Backstage Beauty At Day 4 Was Equal Measures Big And Bold, And Natural, Dewy – iDiva.com

A big day calls for some big shows and some even bigger beauty looks, and that’s just what we saw on Day 4 of Lakme Fashion Week Winter-Festive 2016. We can’t believe it’s almost over, but this daily beauty round-up has been our favourite part this season. While most shows had very neutral, dewy make-up, there were a few funky looks where hair and accessories had a huge moment (quite literally). Check out some of the day’s hair and make-up looks here.

“The Honeymoon Story” by Shivan & Narresh channeled an almost Moroccan hammam-like feel, with models strutting their stuff in sexy maillots, saris and beach shorts. The make-up for this show was very minimal with natural looking skin, just a hint of black eyeliner (hidden by modern Jackie O-esque sunglasses) and peach-nude lips. The hair was tightly pulled back, and most models sported head wraps or chunky half-moon headbands and earrings.

For the “Label” by Ritu Kumar show, the models were seen with similarly nude and dewy skin, but with a hint of blush, light pink lips and tight-lined eyes. Hair was left flowy and wavy with a predominant middle part.

The super funky and upbeat Lovebirds x BLOT! show combined music, art and style and the make-up and hair perfectly complimented the clothes and killer ambience. The make-up was all kinds of bright; with a distinct pop of fuscia blush from the cheekbones up till the temples. There was also purple, blue and pink eyeshadow concentrated towards the outer ends of the eye and winged with matching liner on the lower lash line, and glossy pink and red lips. Curls were the focus of the hair game, whether concentrated upwards for models with short hair or big and bold for longer hair.

Shantanu & Nikhil’s “The Matador’s Mistress” once again saw natural faces, this time accentuated by classic black winged liner, long lashes and matte red lips in different shades. The models had beautiful braided buns and some even wore roses and matador headdresses. The showstopper Malaika Arora Khan though, stunned with poker straight hair, thick silvery eyeliner and plum-coloured lips.

The Ashish N Soni and TRESemmé show was all about volume, from the clothes to the hair. Hair and make-up expert Daniel Bauer was behind the iconic hairstyles, emulating the hair revolution from the 60s to present day through beehives, big blowouts, Madonna’s messy bob, big (BIG), long curls, unnaturally high updos and even a blonde do reminiscent of Dolly Parton. The make-up was mostly neutral but also following the era-wise order (as with the hair), with some models going almost completely bare-faced with tight-lined eyes and very light nude-ish lips. But black lipstick also made an appearance and so did pastel eyeshadow.
