Bargain buster and mum-of-two Kayleigh blogs for PromotionalCodes.org.uk and shares her top tips every week for saving the pennies during everyday life.
The 28-year-old has now given her best advice on how to divulge in a spot of pampering while staying on a budget.
She said: “I love anything beauty related, from face masks to pedicures, but as you know they don’t come cheap.
“Simply getting your nails done can cost up to £40, and then you have to have regular maintenance on them and infills. This is on top of getting your eyebrows done – the list goes on and on.
“You could end up spending a small fortune every month keeping up with the latest beauty treatments, but there are plenty of ways you can have all the treatments you want for a fraction of the cost.”
Here are Kayleigh’s four top money saving tips when it comes to hair and beauty:
Check online
One of the best places to find salon treatments at bargain prices is online site Groupon – you can find manicures, hair cuts and colours, gel nails, waxing, spray tans and more for brilliant prices.
If you don’t have the time or patience to do the treatments yourself at home then these offers can be very helpful.
Here’s an example of an offer in my area available at the moment – you can book a Shellac manicure or pedicure for £13 instead of the normal price of £20, or a teeth whitening treatment for £79 rather than the usual price of £299.
It’s worth looking at what you can get before booking anything as you never know – there might just be a bargain waiting for you.
Visit your local college
Another way to save money is to check out your local college in their hair and beauty department.
I trained as a hairdresser in college and for practical training you have real clients that book in for all sorts of hair and beauty treatments at a fraction of the cost of a salon.
It’s no less professional than a normal salon and the trainees are supervised at all times.
In my local college you can get a cut and finish for £10 and an eyebrow wax for £3.50.
If you’re on a budget this can be a great way to still have the treatments you want.
Be a model for the day
The other thing you should look out for are salons that are advertising for models for their trainees to practise treatments on.
Again these are supervised and these offers are either at a greatly reduced price or sometimes even free.
Do it yourself
One of the best ways for beauty though is to use the DIY approach – not only can you pamper yourself but you can also set aside some me time as well.
With places like Poundland, Poundworld and B&M Bargains, you can get some great branded beauty products for cheap.
Pick up a nice conditioning hair mask for less than £1 and treat your hair. While your hair is being pampered, why not put on a face mask, you can pick these up for around 75p each.
Soak a flannel in warm water and place that on your face afterwards and you get the same effect as a professional facial but at nowhere near the usual price tag.
You can do a lot of DIY treatments at home, just get experimenting. If you’re a regular salon-goer why not take up the challenge and see what savings you can make by finding bargains and doing it DIY.
